### European Tech Hiring Trends: The High Demand for Technology Workers in Europe

**London, June 28, 2023** – In a time of regional economic issues, including inflation and the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, Europe‘s need for technology workers remains steadfast. According to a recent report by CompTIA, the nonprofit association for the technology industry and workforce, there were over 950,000 job postings for technology positions in 11 European countries during the fourth quarter of 2022.

#### The Demand for Skilled Tech Workers

Skilled tech workers are in high demand across Europe, creating new employment opportunities for individuals looking to enter the technology workforce. Graham Hunter, Executive Vice President of Global Sales at CompTIA, emphasizes the critical role professional certification programs play in the tech industry and across various sectors. The report shows that tech employment opportunities are available at every stage of a career. Notably, 35% of employers sought candidates with 0 to 2 years of work experience.

#### Dispersed Opportunities

The job postings for technology positions were geographically dispersed across the European continent. Germany, France, and Poland had the largest numbers of job postings, with 411,743, 217,480, and 60,532 respectively. The information and communication industry had the most job postings, but employers from professional, scientific and technical services, manufacturing, administrative and support services, and financial and insurance sectors also showed strong hiring interest.

#### Most In-Demand Tech Positions

Software development, programming, and web development positions had the highest volume of job postings during the fourth quarter of 2022, with 353,293 job postings. Following closely were positions for systems analysts and cybersecurity professionals, with 284,215 job postings. IT support specialists and technicians, as well as network and systems administrators and technicians, were also in high demand.

#### Individual Country Breakdown

The report provides a breakdown of data by individual countries, highlighting both commonalities and unique characteristics of each market’s tech employment scene. Software development and programming were the most sought-after job roles in 10 out of 11 countries, with Germany, France, and Poland leading the pack. The exception was Italy, where employers focused their talent search on cybersecurity professionals and systems analysts.
