Sweet Security Launches Cloud Runtime Security Suite with $12 Million Seed Funding

TEL AVIV, Israel – Sweet Security, a startup founded by retired IDF commanders with expertise in offensive and defensive cloud security, has announced the launch of its Cloud Runtime Security Suite. The company also raised $12 million in seed funding in a round led by Glilot Capital Partners, with participation from CyberArk Ventures and angel investors such as Gerhard Eschelbeck, former CISO at Google, and Travis McPeak, former head of product security at Databricks.

Addressing the Gap in Cloud Runtime Defense

Sweet Security aims to address the existing gap in cloud runtime defense. While securing development environments is crucial, current solutions do not adequately prepare companies for breaches that occur in runtime. Founder Dror Kashti, former CISO of the IDF, realized the need for “boots on the ground” detection tools that are optimized for the cloud.

Existing detection tools either have limited functionality or lack optimization for cloud environments. Sweet’s Cloud Runtime Security Suite provides cloud-native runtime protections that offer a full understanding of attacks as they unfold. It enables security teams to detect, respond, and mitigate attacks in real-time.

Sweet’s Cloud Runtime Security Suite Features

Sweet’s Cloud Runtime Security Suite offers a comprehensive set of features to enhance cloud security:

  • Detection & Response: The suite provides real-time attack detection and prevention capabilities, allowing security teams to promptly respond to threats.
  • Discovery: Sweet’s runtime sensor provides cloud-native cluster visibility within five minutes. It streams key application data and business logic to its servers, enabling anomaly detection and contextualization with traditional tactics, techniques, and procedures (TTPs).
  • Prevention: Sweet’s patent-pending auto-learning technology delivers critical attack findings and supports mitigation efforts before, during, and after an attack. It equips CISOs and security teams with the necessary technical foundations to be accountable for cloud security.

Industry Recognition and Endorsements

The importance of Sweet Security‘s solution has been acknowledged by industry leaders. Michael Shaulov, co-founder and CEO of Fireblocks, a large cloud-first company, highlighted Sweet’s technology as a crucial component of their cloud workload security strategy. Sweet’s insights on real-time threats provide Fireblocks with connectivity visibility, cloud topology, and threat classification, significantly enhancing their Security Operation Center and DevSecOps teams.

Srinath Kuruvadi, Managing Director and Head of Cloud Security at JPMorgan Chase & Co., emphasized the rising frequency and sophistication of attacks against cloud workloads. Kuruvadi believes that Sweet’s vision and expertise in cloud runtime security are leading the industry forward to combat these threats effectively.

Investment and Forward Momentum

Glilot Capital Partners, one of the investors in Sweet Security, expressed confidence in the company’s potential to fill the cloud security gap. The investors highlighted the founders’ expertise and ability to build high-performing teams as significant strengths.

Aiming for Delightful Cybersecurity

Sweet Security aims to redefine the perception of cybersecurity by providing a “delightful” user experience. CEO Dror Kashti believes that if security teams can avoid constantly tuning security products and sifting through countless alerts, their execution and satisfaction levels will significantly improve. Sweet’s Cloud Runtime Security Suite offers complexity without the pain.
